The Canada - British Columbia Environmental Farm Plan Program complements and enhances the current environmental stewardship practices of British Columbian producers. The EFP program applies to all types and sizes of farm operations throughout the province. As a participant in this program, produces are able to identify their farm’s environmental strengths, prioritize risks to the environment and take advantage of tools and techniques available to manage those risks.
Canada's federal, provincial and territorial Ministers of agriculture have reached an important milestone as they announced the completion of the Quebec agreement: the multilateral Growing Forward framework. This years EFP program supports the Growing Forward vision of a profitable and innovative agriculture, agri-food and agri-based products industry that seizes opportunities in responding to market demands and contributes to the health and well-being of Canadians. The Beneficial Management Practices included on this site are for the current program year ending March 31, 2010 and are subject to annual revision during the five years of the Growing Forward Agreement. For more information on the new policy framework see the Agriculture and Agri-Food website.
The BC Agricultural Research and Development Corporation (ARDCorp) is the program delivery agent (as a third party), through its Environment Programs Committee, EFP administration, producer organizations and producers.
